Earnest "Benny' Benjamin Moore, 92 of 1663 US Hwy. 158 East, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday morning, September 5, 2017 with his family by his side.  Born in Brunswick, Va. son of the late Laura Mae Coley Moore & Earnest Moore; in addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of nearly seventy years Virginia Everett Moore; four brothers Robert Moore, Shelton Moore, Emmett Moore & Otis Moore.  Mr. Moore was a butcher and retired from W&W Grocery Store. He was a devoted member of Beulah Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons for nearly fifty years and he was known for his lemonade.

Mr. Moore was one of the "Greatest Generation" serving in W.W.II inThe US Army at the age of nineteen.  He arrived in France at Omaha Beach as a replacement solider on June 8, 1944, two days after D-Day.  He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7316 and American Legion Post 89 where he served as Chaplain of both organizations and also Chaplain to the NC VFW District 6.

Surviving are his three daughters Brenda Huffines of Burlington; Debbie Riddle of Danville, Va.; Connie Gauldin of Pelham; his son Ricky Moore of Yanceyville; his sister Dorothy Powers of Dundas, Va.; five grandchildren, two step-grandchildren & five great-grandchildren also survive.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 PM till 8:00 PM Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at Harrelson Funeral Service and other times at the home.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday September 7, 2017 at Beulah Baptist Church by Pastor Rick Lancaster & Pastor Mark Cobb.  Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery with Military honors provided by VFW Post 7316 & American Legion Post 89.

Pallbearers will be Mark Lowe, Hal Blackwelder, Clift Swann, Steve Walls, Tim Robbins, Buddy Owen & David Lackey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be: The Deacons of Bealah Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to : The Caswell County Veteran's Memorial Park P. O. Box 176, Yanceyville, NC 27379.

Glad that I had an opportunity to meet Benny and spend some time with him over these past few weeks. He was indeed a fine Christian man who had much love for his family, his church, his community and his country. He always wanted to be sure that respect was paid to the Stars and Stripes and even more so to our Lord. Prayers and blessings for you all.
