Mattie Foster Hooper passed away March 5, 2011 at the Brian Center in Yanceyville.

She was born in Caswell County on Sept. 17, 1914 to the late Thomas Tilton Foster and Lillie Smith Foster and step mother, Nannie Hunley Foster. She was married to the late James A. Hooper who predeceased her.

She loved the Lord and was a very devoted lifetime member of First Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday School teacher, member of the WMU and a choir member for many years and held numerous other positions within the church.

She retired from the NC Baptist Home and was special to everyone she came in to contact with. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances H. Cook (Bill) of Graham and Billie H. Briggs (Harry) of Yanceyville; two grandchildren Lawanda Zimmerman (Gus) of Cary and Clinton Briggs (Lisa)  of Milton; three great grandchildren, Elizabeth McCaffree (David) of Mclean, Va, Katelyn  (Katey) Briggs and Joseph (Joey) Briggs of Milton ; and one great great grandchild, Hannah McCaffree of Mclean Va.. She is also survived by one sister-in-law Virginia Foster and many beloved nieces and nephews

She was the last surviving member of her family and was predeceased by four brothers, Ernest Foster, Tom Foster, Earl (Dutch) Foster and Woodrow Foster and three sisters Annie Satterfield, Eva (Doll) Foster and Nettie Hudson.

The funeral service will be held Monday, March 7 at 11 :00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Yanceyville with Rev. Claude Harrelson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will be at the home of Billie Briggs 216 Murray Road at all other times.

In lieu of flowers. the family request donations be made to First Baptist Church Lottie Moon Christmas Offering or St. Luke’s Methodist Church in care of Rick Hunter 263 Roberts Drive, Burlington, N.C. 27217
