Katherine Marie McGuire, Katie to all who knew her, was born on July 2, 1987 and was 30 years old when she left this earthly home to be with her Lord in Heaven on July 28, 2017.

Katie was born in Lynchburg, VA to Vanessa Creasy of Danville, VA and Robert Creasy of Apply Valley, CA and was later adopted by her aunt and uncle, Gwendolyn McGuire of Milton, NC and Gordon McGuire of Roseburg, OR. Katie graduated from Bartlett Yancey High School in Yanceyville, NC and attended community college in both Destin, FL and at PCC in Roxboro, NC. She held several jobs during her short life but was most proud of her time at Aunt Millie’s (the family business) in Milton, NC. After a few years of moving around, Katie relocated to Apple Valley, CA to be with her birth father and family on the west coast. It was there that she met and fell in love with Evan Dye and together they bore two beautiful children, Charlotte Rose Dye (age almost 3) and Johnathan Evan Dye (age 1) and established their residence in Riverside, CA.

Katie was a loving and dedicated stay at home mom. Nothing brought her greater joy than loving and caring for her two children. In fact, she felt that her greatest achievement was giving birth to these two wonderful children. And if she feels any disappointments about her life now that she is in Heaven, it is that she is not still here to see them grow into adults. They truly were her pride and joy and there wasn’t anything she would not do for them. And now she will be watching over them from her heavenly home as their guardian angel.

Katie enjoyed reading, decorating (for any occasion, but especially for Christmas), spending time at the beach with her dad and uncles, and shopping (especially when she found great deals which she always did). She also loved traveling back to North Carolina every year to visit with her family here on the east coast. Katie had a great sense of humor which often came out unexpectedly and gave all those around her a good laugh or two.

Katie leaves behind to mourn her loss her long time boyfriend, Evan Dye and their two children Charlotte Rose and Johnathan Evan of Riverside, CA; her birth parents, Vanessa Creasy of Danville, VA and Robert Creasy of Apple Valley, CA; her adoptive parents, Gwen McGuire of Milton, NC and Gordon McGuire of Roseburg, OR; her uncle, Joseph Creasy and his partner Richard Thompson of Apple Valley, CA; her uncle Jack Creasy and his wife Susan and their children Robbie and Nicole of Apple Valley, CA; her grandmother Joan Farmer of Gretna, VA; her aunt Sandra Human and her husband Jerry of Chatham, VA and their children Tekila Tuck and her husband Chris and their children, Madalyn, Bethany and Cole of Gretna, VA and Troy Human and his wife Jessica and their children Landon and Alexis of Chatham, VA; her aunt Cheryl Tomlinson and her husband Will and their family of Federal Way, WA; and her aunt Anne LeBlanc and her husband Gordon and their family of Tacoma, WA; as well as a host of other extended family members and good friends and her two long time pets Jack and Jill.

A Memorial Service for Katie will be held on September 20, 2017 at 2:00 pm at New Hope United Methodist Church, 465 Long’s Mill Road, Blanch, NC 27212. Pastor Howard James will be officiating with a reception to be held following the service and a special thanks goes out to J.R. Whitt of Harrelson Funeral Services in Yanceyville, NC for his help with the arrangements. The family would also like to thank everyone who has sent cards, donations, flowers, words of condolence and support. Your thoughts and prayers have been most appreciated during this difficult time.

Katie’s ashes will be spread on both coasts as she was truly a bi-coastal daughter and friend. Our hearts and prayers go out to Katie's family at this difficult time. May you find comfort in your positive memories with her and the peace of mind Our loving Heavenly Father provides through prayer (Philippians 4:6, 7). We look forward to the time when He eliminates all causes for sorrow and His original purpose for humankind will be fulfilled (Isaiah 25:8; Revelation 21:3, 4). In the meantime, we trust Him to give us the strength we need to carry on (Philippians 4:13).
