YANCEYVILLE

Richard “Dick” Jennings Fowlkes, 85, of Yanceyville, NC was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 30, 2018. Born on June 07, 1932, son of the late Robert J. Fowlkes and the late Nancy Fowlkes, Mr. Fowlkes was preceded in death by his sisters Elizabeth White, Rebecca Stanfield, Nancy Patterson, Frances Smith; his half-sister Mary Turner; his brothers John Fowlkes, Robert Fowlkes, Doug Fowlkes, and Charles Fowlkes.

Dick was a member of Locust Hill Methodist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Yanceyville, acting as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. For over 30 years, he was a dedicated employee of R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Later, Mr. Fowlkes opened Fowlkes Green House in Yanceyville, NC, which he operated with his family for over 25 years. After retiring from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, Dick found joy in dealing antiques for over 20 years.

Mr. Fowlkes was a loving and committed husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed married life with his wife, Patsy Fowlkes, for over 56 years. To his children and grandchildren, he imparted life lessons and wisdom that would help form them into adulthood. No matter what life would send Dick’s way, his family would always come first. He was a great role model and enjoyed telling stories. Dick took pleasure in recycling and repurposing old objects.

Good Morning,
I am so sorry to learning of the passing of my beloved Mr. Fowlkes. He was a second father to me and taught me so many things. He treated me like a fourth daughter and I loved him very much.

I will miss you and remember you fondly forever.
