Edmund DuVal Duckett, Jr. 96, Commander, U. S. Navy (Retired) died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at his home.  A native of Washington, D. C., he came to North Carolina in 2005 from Florida where he lived since his retirement from the Central Intelligence Agency in 1977.  He enlisted in the Navy is 1939, was commissioned a Lieutenant, Junior Grade and designated a Naval Aviator in 1943 at the Naval Air Station, Pensacola.  After receiving his wings he was assigned as a flight instructor in Pensacola.  He majored in mathematics at Tulane University and completed his work at the Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey, California.  He served as an exchange pilot with the U. S. Air Force and as a pilot served in aircraft carriers LEXINGTON (CV16), PRINCETON (CV39), KEARSARGE (CV33) and ESSEX (CV9).

In 1960 he was assigned as a Navel Liaison Officer to the Central Intelligence Agency.  He retired from the Navy in 1963 and continued to serve in the Central Intelligence Agency until his retirement in 1977. While with the CIA, he was assigned to the Special Projects Staff and did a three tour in London as Chief of Station for the Deputy Director of Science and Technology from 1968 to 1971.  His last assignment in the CIA was for two years with the Office of the Inspector General.  He was awarded an Intelligence medal for service in a highly classified project while serving the Agency.  After retiring he served as President of the Clearwater beach Sertoma Club, Commodore of the Island Estates Yacht Club.  He was a member of the Society of Mareen Duvall Descendants, the National Flight Log, and the Photographic Society of America.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-five years Janet (Roberts); sons Dennis D. Duckett of Santa Rose, Ca., Philip D. Duckett of Blanch, NC; daughters Candace Rush of Alexandria, Va., Gabrielle Schultz of Blanch, NC; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and a brother Captain Philip Duckett, USN (RETIRED) of Blanch, NC

Memorial Service will be held at a later date and entombment will be at Arlington National Cemetery Columbarium.
