LEASBURG

Malinda Lunsford Kirby, 76, of 5996 NC HWY 119 N, Leasburg, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019. Born in Caswell County, she was the daughter of the late William Perry Lunsford and Hattie Morton Lunsford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jonah Benjamin Kirby; one daughter, Teresa Kirby; two sisters, Reba Phelps and Patricia Cobb; and one brother, Harold Lunsford.

Mrs. Kirby was a very gracious, selfless, generous, caring person. She was known for being very active in the community and always helping and doing for others, putting everyone ahead of herself. She was a member of Leasburg Ruritan Club and of Union United Methodist Church where she formerly served as a Sunday School Teacher and Lay Leader.  She was very active in church and recreational softball. She was an awesome cook and really known for her homemade biscuits.

Mrs. Kirby is survived by three children, Tracy Kirby of the home, Tony Kirby and wife Beth of Cherry Grove, Tiffany Kirby Morris and husband Jeff of Pittsboro; one brother, Dennis Lunsford and wife Tina of Greensboro; six grandchildren, Danielle Kirby Moore and husband James, Claire Kirby Dix and husband Cody, Ben Kirby and wife Sara Katherine, Carrie Kirby, Kirby Morris and Lindy Morris; four great grandchildren, A’Niyah Moore, A’Lanah Moore, A’Yanah Moore, and Gracyn Dix.

Funeral Services will be held at 4PM on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Union United Methodist Church by Rev. John Upton and Rev. Joe Jackson. The family will receive friends from 6PM until 7:30PM on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 at Union United Methodist Church and other times at the home.

Pallbearers will be Ben Kirby, Cody Dix, James Moore, Tommy Aldridge, Adam Kirby and John Berdine. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lin Cobb, Mark Phelps, Edward Vernon, and Richie Richardson.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Caswell County Home Health, Leasburg Fire Department, Davita Dialysis of Roxboro, Dr. Caroline Roberts and staff, Caregiver Sanya Ladd, family, friends and neighbors for all of the diligent care, love, compassion and devotion shown to their Mother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union United Methodist Church or Leasburg Volunteer Fire Department.
