Wayne Manning, 68, of 247 Joyce Dr., Providence, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at Hospice of Rockingham on Thursday, February 27, 2020. He was the son of the late Earl Randolph Lewis and Elizabeth Boswell Manning Lewis. Wayne was the former Fire Chief of Providence Fire and Rescue and was retired from Goodyear with over 30 years of service. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved deer hunting. He was most passionate about horses and loved to go trail riding on horseback on the weekends with his wife. He was of the Baptist faith.

Wayne is survived by his wife of over 23 years, Robbie Moss Manning of the home; two daughters, Cari DeMott of Danville, VA and Stephanie Owen and husband Josh of Cascade, VA; three stepsons, Michael Price and wife Mia of Roxboro, Tony Price and wife Dana of Youngsville, and Justin Price and wife Katy of Henderson; one brother, Steve Manning and wife Lili of Reidsville; one sister, Gail Manning of Kernersville; step-mother Dorothy Lewis of Danville, VA; four grandchildren, Jace DeMott, Brooklyn Owen, Eben Owen and Sadie Owen; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM on Sunday, March 1, 2020 at Harrelson Funeral Services Chapel by Pastor David Owen. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2PM until 3PM.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Pelham Volunteer Fire Department, Hospice of Rockingham County or Caswell EMS.
